Tanterra Architectural Committee Update

NEW PARKING REGULATIONS

EFFECTIVE 3/1/2008

One of the most frequent complaints from homeowners that the Architectural Committee receives every year is in regards to parking of vehicles, boats, campers etc., within the Tanterra community.  Most complaints are focused on those homeowners that park vehicles, etc., on lawns, back and side yards.  Considering the fact that the Architectural Committee has approved many additions of driveways over the last few years we felt that it was time to update our rules regarding parking of vehicles.

The Architectural Committee made a recommendation to the Tanterra Board of Directors at the December meeting and the following was approved.

They are as follows:

  1. Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles and SUV’s etc. shall be parked on the driveway or on the county strip between the culvert and the roadway.  No vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, boats, RV’s etc., shall be parked on lawns including back, front and side.
  2. Trailers, Boats, RV’s must be parked on driveways.

Enforcement shall be as follows for those homeowners that violate the new regulations:

  1. Each homeowner will be given one warning for the first offense.  They will be sent a registered letter (shows proof of delivery).  This letter will serve as a per household warning and not per vehicle.
  2. Once violation letter is received (based on proof of delivery) the homeowner has seven (7) days to move the vehicle to the approved locations for parking.  Should the vehicle not be moved within seven days the homeowner will receive a $25.00 fine and doubled for every week (7 days) until the vehicle is moved.
  3. Second offense will result in an immediate fine ($25.00) sent by registered letter (proof of delivery).  Homeowner will continue to receive fines and doubled for every week (7 days) until vehicle is moved.

A lot of homeowners have spent a great deal of money on their homes and we cannot think of a reason for vehicles to be parked on lawns.  It does not help property values and if you drive through most neighborhoods you won’t see cars parked on lawns.  Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.  Should you have any questions on this new policy please don’t hesitate to give Hank Griffin a call at (240) 461-7536 or skayhank@comcast.net.
